place to get e-ring insured?

just wondering if there were any places in particular to get them insured? my FI had it insured at the place he bought it but i heard you should get it insured somewhere else too. any suggestions?

do you rent or own a house/apt?  if you have home owners, you can put it under that insurance.  if you rent, you can get cheap renters insurance and put it under that.

this might be a stupid question, but can you have something insured twice?  Do you mean appraised?  If he got it appraised where he got the ring, then yes, it's a good idea to get it appraised somewhere else. As for insurance, it is insured through our renter's insurance.

I put it on my renters insurance.  It was cheap.

i used jewelers mutual online.  Got it from many recs on here.  So far so good

My auto insurance is through Allstate, so I just called and got renter's insurance and had my ring included on that. It was very easy, fast and a very good price IMO.

ddelo23 - i dont rent/own my own home, that wont happen until after FI and i are married, and i really didnt want to wait that long...i think that i want to get it insured - just in case anythng were to happen to it.

Its on my renters insurance.

Does your FI?  If so, it can go on his.  If not then try your car insurance, otherwise you can buy separate policies.

didnt think about car insurance.... FI doesnt own/rent either. i guess when we are in the process of house hunting we can look into it then also. thanks for the suggestions

state farm quoted us with a reasonable price, they say that they are better than using renters or home owners insurance, but they are obviously biased

Since I still live at home, I had my ring insured under their home insurance. I think the total was around 180 for the year. After the wedding, I will transfer it over to my home/apt.

We did our rings at State Farm Insurance in Ridgefield for the apprased value of the rings.
