Insurance claim on ENG ring

FI diamond looks like it has a small chip in it.......bringing it to jeweler to check, but has anyone ever made a claim?  Just curious as to the process.  I would expect to get a replacement stone and hand in the old one.

Do you just have a rider on your homeowner's or did you get separate jewelry insurance? I know, personally, my homeowner's insurance would handle something of this nature just like a claim on the house - send out an adjuster to look at it, value it and mail a check (assuming the value was more than my deductible)

It's part of  homeowners ins.  Will prob keep it as is (it's a really small chip), just thinking ahead if it gets worse or there is some kind of internal crack (once we get it looked at)

I chipped mine a couple months ago.  I have a celebration diamond from Zales so I just brought it back and they exchanged it.  They took the ring from me first and had to send it out to their corporate offices.  It took 6 weeks to get it back.  I havent done an exchage through a private insurance though.

Prob will but it would be small compared to the payout to replace the stone. Plus the stone still has value....they will prob trim it down to remove chip and resell.

My friend lost hers and the process was insane!  They called her bestfriend, mother and brother to see if their stories matched to make sure she wasn't lying.

AWWW "DW"!  Sorry I have nothing useful to add.  Good luck with that - I know Rudy would be going nuts.  He is constantly inspecting my ring.
