Wedding Crashers reference...

and just from personal experience attending church weddings. I now realize why so many couples choose the "Love is patient, love is kind" passage. The choices in that book given by the church to choose our readings from is not that great. So I will probably jump on the bandwagon on this one. I have to submit our choices by tomorrow night! Way to procrastinate, right? Rule #76: Play like a champion!

    We had the same issue! We went with "god is love" from John. Didnt want anything about how wife serves husband and there seemed to be many readings alluding to that.

    Even before wedding crashers I used to start mouthing the words to it because it's used in EVERY wedding. But there definitely are a lot of "wife is obedient" type readings so I understand why people pick it.

    sorry, but this just reminded me of Old School.  When Will Ferrell is getting married and Vince Vaughn is coughing "don't do it".  My best man thinks he's going re-inact this at the wedding.   I wouldn't be surprised if he and the other groomsmen bet on the reading as well (a la Wedding Crashers). lol

    but I love "Love is Patient"..... its SO done I know, but thats a wedding to me. Agreed about no "The wife must be subordinate". FI sister is very religious and explained to me that it means that while your supposed to talk it out one person should have the final say---- but why does it have to be the man... and why is it on every issue?

    And a confession- I picked my readings and songs by which ones were the shortest... I figured no one was listening anyway and we might as well keep the ceremony moving along.
