Thats where I was the weekend of your wedding.  Didn't go with FI, but we loved it.Only thing was we had to drive everywhere, all the wineries, if FI decided we wanted to take a 5 hour trip it would be where we didn't have to drive again but from what I saw near impossible.  It is beautiful, the wine is AMAZING, breweries too, its silent, it was amazing in that aspect I thought nothing of anything but hanging out, until a friend and I got into wedding talk, both our faults :)

You can also fly up to Syracuse and drive from there.  That's what I've done when visiting my pro bono client...in prison :)... up there.

Skaneatalas (sp??) Is a neat town with shopping, dining, and a lake. The wineries there are fun, but I hope you like sweet zimfandel type wines. Swedish Hill was my favorite.

We rented a cottage in Interlaken on Cayuga Lake.  It was only 30 minutes from Ithaca and really beautiful.  Go to Watkins Glen to see the gorges, visit wineries, hike, swim, rent canoes...it is really relaxing there.

I love the fingerlakes.  Mainly because I love wine tasting.  I have stayed on Keuka and Cayuga for wine tasting.  I rented a 20 person house so I am probably no help.  But if you want to know about which wine trails are good I can help with that.  Its gorgeous up there.

hello, finger lakes queen here. skaneateles is a great pick.  stay at mirbeau inn & spa.  wonderful little retreat, can walk or ride bikes downtown to water front (little shops, cute places to eat, not very big however).  spa has new wine bar, and made to look like monet's gardens, and a great spa. beautiful. ithaca.. i am biased, i lived there for 4 years.  it's a college town but with a lot of artistic and organic flaire, especially in the summer before school starts.  dozens of famous places to eat, hike, swim, bike, shop, tour.

Hey Allie, can you give me some good spots in Ithaca? We go to the Finger Lakes every year with the in-laws and i'm always looking for something new to do!Kathy - wineries are great. We usually hit up the ones on Seneca Lake. And yeah, you definitely have to drive to all of them as they're too far apart. But it's really pretty up there!I also recommend hiking Watkins Glen... there's some waterfalls and it's very pretty. We'll be doing that again when we go there at the end of this month.

FI took me up there for a few days for my birthday in May. We stayed in the Harbor Hotel, which is really nice. It looked like the nicest hotel in the area. It is right on Lake Seneca. The hotel is only about a year old, so everything feels very new. We also liked the hotel restaraunt. Had a great couple of days of wine tasting, driving up and down the lake. On the way home we stopped oat the Corning museum of glass and really enjoyed that too!! Have fun!

We just went up there a few weeks ago to go camping and go to a wine festival. Not sure what else was there. We were in Watkins Glen, NY.

user -- yes, college.  ah, the good life. jess&paul -- what do you like to do?  wine tour?  hike?  bike?  eat (lol)?  must see the gorges of course, hence all those t-shirts you always see.  the waterfalls and parks are beautiful.  the planet walk is always fun.. you get to tour around town while visiting the "planets" that are spaced out to scale ending up at the science center.  cute way to check out the neighborhood.  there are little art museums at both ithaca and cornell and in town.  there is tons of shopping downtown.  and of course the wineries!
