Does anyone know about the oceanic restaurant in Wilmington?

Has anyone on here ever had their reception/ceremony at the oceanic restaurant in Wilmington? I am thinking of having mine there but it might be tricky to have it open enough for all of my guests. Question on the table would be, would it be tacky to have the ceremony on the outside pier, then invite everyone in for cocktail hour while they re-arrange the pier for a reception (covered with tents)? The pier may be the only place at the restaurant open enough for my guests- between 100 -150.

I don't know about the restaurant specifically.  But I don't think it would be tacky to have the re-set during the cocktail hour.

Thanks! I was leaning towards that direction myself, but just wanted some extra opinions!

It's not uncommon to have the location reset for the reception during the cocktail hour if you're having the ceremony and the reception in the same place.  I say go for it!

I got engaged there. :-) I don't think that's tacky at all actually - its a pretty common practice if your wedding and reception are in the same location.

Thanks everyone! It is a beautiful place. I wish we could all fit in the top floor (panoramic ocean views!) but it only fits 80 at the most.. :/ blaaaah. So looks like the pier is our best bet :)

I think the Oceanic is a fantastic location! I've been there a couple of times. Have you had the food there before? Their menu is kinda Calabash style seafood dishes. I have to honestly say that it is not the best food I've had in the Wilmington area, and I definitely wouldn't call it fancy. But for the view on the pier, I think it would be a great reception (and ceremony) location. And I'm not going fancy with my reception, so I don't see anything wrong with that either. ;) Never heard of someone doing both ceremony & reception there before, but I wish you lots of luck!
