Need Help

I was wondering if anyone knew a good photographer for North Jersey. I am not worried about a price, I just want the best photographer. Anyone with any suggestions would be greatly appriciated. Thank You

"best photographer" is very hypothetical... everyone has different opinions and different ideas of what they want in a photographer. With that being said. I'm using Chris Mastalia. www.photocm.com Obviously I think he's the best, since I booked him.

f money isn't an issue, in NJ look at Marie Labbancz (artoflove.com), or look in NYC. There is a decent amount photography talent in NJ, but you'll find a lot more of "the best" in NYC or elsewhere. Everyone in NYC will travel to NJ. I would recommend Christian Oth (www.christianothstudio.com), Brian Dorsey (www.briandorseystudios.com) or Karen Wise (karenwise.com).Also look at American Photographer's top ten in the world lists from the last three years-- most of the photogs will be happy to travel to NJ (you'll have to pay for their airfare and hotel, etc.)http://www.popphoto.com/Features/The-Top-10-Wedding-Photographers-2007http://www.popphoto.com/Features/Top-10-Wedding-Photographers-2008http://www.popphoto.com/Features/Top-10-Wedding-Photographers-2008http://www.popphoto.com/Features/Top-10-Wedding-Photographers-of-2009

Neil from One Perfect Moment (www.oneperfectmoment.com)orJosh Lynn (www.joshlynn.com)I booked Neil for my wedding, he brought Josh for part of the day - I love my pictures and have gotten tons of compliments on them. Neil and Josh have different styles though, which was cool for me to be able to get both (going through my pics I could tell who took which picture before I looked at the code on the back), but they are both very talented and do amazing work.

We booked Matt Rainey (mattraineyimages.com) - cool guy and great photos. We also met with Amy Newman and liked her a lot (amynewmanphotography.com). Whitebox Weddings in North Carolina has nice photos. I also like David Lau's work.

I liked ESP Studios in Hasbrouck Heights & Milton Gil in Lyndhurst. I just booked Gabelli Studio for my own wedding because I thought their pics were just as good as the above two and the owner John was beyond attentive, getting back to my e-mails within 2 hours and giving me his cell # if I had questions over the weekend while the office was closed.

I heard Milton Gil was good. We're using Todd Laffler, and couldn't be happier. Our E-pics are insane, they look like they should be in a magazine (and NOT because we look like models, we don't!) :)

Thank you everyone for your help. We are getting married at the Venetian in Garfield and they recommended John Agnello Photography in Wayne and Aster Photography in Upper Saddle River. Has anyone heard anything (good or bad) about them?Thank You

We looked into Aster because of a recommendation, and a friend used them recently.  The website is very 90s, which was a big warning sign for us.  Our friend's photos are very, very traditional-- very posed and not very creative.  If you're looking for very traditional stuff, Aster may be your style, but it was not very photojournalistic (and photojournalism is much more the style today).Photography is extremely subjective, and a good photographer can do a great job at any venue even if he/she hasn't been there before.  There are so many photographers out there with so many styles-- I would recommend looking at places beyond the two recommendations by your venue.I know you say you are not worried about a price, but prices vary widely.  You could pay $2000 or you could pay $20,000+.  Telling us your goal price and/or what you expect for that price might be really helpful.

I would suggest Maggie McGill - she's in Rutherford. We met with her and her work is great but are using Matthew Douglas Photography (mdgphotography.com) only because of pricing and what's offered.

I don't have a price range. I just want the pictures to be the best. I am very into photojournalism, which is what I'm looking for. I don't like the traditional pose pictures, since I'm not good at posing too.
