I don't think that Sinatra Park's streep lamps are all that bright at night. I remember being there after sundown and it was fairly dark, so in terms of lighting I imagine that your photographer knows what (s)he's talking about. Are you interested in the NYC skyline? Or just the sentimenal value of Hoboken? In Hoboken you're going to get the strip between upper Downtown and up to the Empire State Building, whereas in Weehawken you'll probably get better ESB views. Would Jersey City be an option, too? There are some nice skyline views there, and if you stay Downtown there are some kitchy neighborhoods and brownstone buildings/old factories that might make great photo ops.

There is a beautiful park on Blvd East in Weehawken with amazing views of midtown Manhattan. My cousin took her wedding pics there.

I had my e-pics in Hoboken.  I thought there were a lot of great places just walking around.  Can you schedule it to be a little earlier?  I don't know weehawken to say which is better -  If you want to see my epics I could send you some and tell you where they were taken.

there are also some nice skyline views over on River Rd in Edgewater.  There is a nice walkway by PF Changs.  I vote Hoboken but I have a soft spot for Hoboken.  I just moved out of Hoboken after 11 years of living there.

Maybe he's referring to that park in Weehawken on the waterfront, right before it turns into Port Imperial. There's a track and baseball fields and It think it's lit up very brightly at night. Otherwise I'm not sure where he's talking about because all the other stretches of waterfront are about the same as far as lighting goes. Just a street lamp every couple of feet. Also, even if he wants to do the majority of the shots in Weehawken that's fine but I would tell him that you still want to do a couple of shots in Hoboken since it's where your FI proposed. They're so close to each other it shouldn't be a problem to take a ride over there to get a couple of shots.

I'm biased because I too live in Hoboken, met my fiance here and got engaged here . We took our e pics on the pier and had some great shots with the city view. We also took some fun pics by the train station. One of my favorite pics is of us on the platform with the Hoboken station sign behind us.

If Hoboken is special to you, you should do it there.  You might be able to get better light at that time if you go more uptown, like 12-14th st. near the shipyard/maxwell place buildings.  Beautiful views of the ESB from there!!  That's probably where my fi and I will do ours.  Good luck! :)

I'd ask your photographer why they don't want to go to Hoboken.  If it's entirely about light, schedule for 2 hours before sunset.  Then you have light and nice warm light at that.  (If they don't want to go for another reason, that's worth evaluating separately). If it's comparing location to location, I find both to be nice and while both have a skyline.... they are different.  I personally prefer the skyline from Weehawken.  There are 2 parks there that have an amazing skyline view.  If the skyline itself is your priority, that's where I'd go.  If your priority is Hoboken, getting the flavor of the city, getting the spot he proposed, etc etc.  Then pick Hoboken.Ultimately, the session should be about you, FI and your chemistry together as an engaged couple.  Unless there is a compelling reason to be one place vs. enough - the photos should be wonderful no matter where you take them.

i dont think it really makes any difference.  a park is a park, the skyline is the skyline.  id say hoboken because it means something to you.  your photog. is crazy, there are plently of places for pictures.

sorry i didnt post.. i was precana yesterday:) we want to do hoboken because its where we got engaged.  645 is dusk, which is the best time according to him.  we are meeting at 340 lounge, so im assuming taking pictures in the park.  i really dont care if there is  a skyline or not..just want nice pictures. my fiance says hoboken but if weehawken has nicer places, then to do there. im not familiar with weekhawken whatsoever.  i think i'l just leave it for hoboken.. maybe we can drive up to weehawken after or something.
