Allie re: invisalign

So many questions! 1. Okay, so insurance covered $2000. Out of how much total? And what was the reason for them covering it (like, was there a very legit medical need, or was it just that your teeth were getting crookeder and crookeder or something? I'm in the latter position-- wondering if I could get it covered) 2. How long will it take total? 3. How often do you have to go to the orthodontist? 4. How much of the time do you wear it, and how much does it hurt? Thanks!

LOL. I am curious, too, though. I think in the past people have posted that the total cost was around $5-6K?

Tif, I thought I was keeping it down to a shout! I could have come up with a lot more if I didn't feel bad for her that I was harassing :)

Not Allie but I can tell you about my invisaligns.... 1. My insurance covered a portion but that was just because it covers a certain amount per person for othodontics 2. Mine took a little over a year with 1 set of refinements 3. On my originals I went once a month to the orthodontist but the appointments were 15-20 minutes tops, When I had my refinement set I went once every two months. 4. I wore them all the time except when eating or drinking hot liquids. They would be tight the first day or so both afterwards I was fine. I would typically take some advil put them in right before bed and go to sleep. I only had 1 set that really hurt the rest was just discomfort.

love the interview ;)  sorry i was MIA this weekend there is no medical need, most all ortho work is purely cosmetic.  it was $5200 total.  i heard you could "shop around" and get from $4700ish+ but i was unwilling to go to anyone else.  my ortho worked for the company out in cali when she first started her career so i trust she knows the ins and outs. depends on your smile and what you'd like to achieve.  typically slightly longer than braces would take.  i just had minor corrections, some crowding in the bottom, some overhang in the front, and wanted to widen my jaw a bit.  i am scheduled for 11 trays, 22 weeks.  i go every 3 trays, or 6-8 weeks. they were really tight the first tray, getting used to them and taking them out because i have two small anchor dots on my front teeth.  some ppl need many more anchor dots if you need more movement.  after the first day i was used to them and they were fine.  the next tray is always a bit tight, but it settles in a few hours.  you must wear them 20-22 hours/day for 2 weeks, but you can make up for the time if you needed them out for a few hours more.
