POLL: Wearing white after Labor Day

Okay, so we've all heard that wearing white after Labor Day is a fashion No-No but has this rule changed? I want to hear what you think!(poll rationale: I got a great deal on a white tote and I really don't want it to sit in the closet until next Spring)TIA!

White tote I think is fine.Winter white is fine.Shirts are fine.Anything on the bottom that is several colors but is not overly white is fine.I usually don't think of Labor Day as the strict cut-off-- kind of more when the weather changes.  I wouldn't wear an all-white dress on October 15 even if it was 90 degrees, but I think it is okay to be flexible if the weather fits.  Of course, this year the change of seasons happened super early.

Go for it! You can wear white after Labor Day. It's an old, out of date rule.

I don't think there's a hard and fast rule but usually things that are in white are in fabrics/material that are not really suitable for fall or winter. So for me it would really depend on what the tote was made out of to see if it was OK to use now. For example I think a white leather bag would be fine, but a white canvas bag I probably wouldn't use. Does that make sense?

Definitely, seabass. It's leather so I should be safe. I'll probably use it until it gets really cold and then put it away. Thanks for the feedback ladies.

I wear white after Labor Day, and black throughout a lot of the summer.  I'm not sure where this rule came from, except that white is more comfortable than black in the summer, but as a fashion "rule" it's outdated and a bit silly.

I wear winter white in after labor day, just because thats really all thats out.  I think a white tote is fine though.

No hard fast rules about white after labor day, but here's my take on it -White Shoes....no, unless they are gym sneakers, and you are wearing them to the gym -White Accessories...no, it looks too summer to me -White shirts always in style -White pants/white suit looks hot in winter with a great (non-white) pair of shoes -put away any white eyelet/lacy skirts/dresses/tops for the season

white is too summery for me.  some accessories however and shirts are fine.  pants and purses and shoes are out.
