Thursday vent!

Let's hear them! I just had a huge fight with my credit card co. I have been with them for years, never late, always pay more than the minimum payment due. My apr went from 12.24 to 19.24%. I am so pissed! I can't even shop for another card because my ex ruined my credit.

ugh - that sucks!!!  Did you threaten to cancel your CC? Sometimes that works for them to do something.

I thought that they passed a law that the credit card companies have to notify you in advance before they raise your rate. I'm not sure if that's only in NYS or nation-wide though. That seriously sucks!

That stinks.  A lot of CC co's are raising their rates for no good reason.

You are the innocent victim of the failing banks...penalize the good customers to make up for the bad.  I am sorry this happened to you and unfortunately you are not alone.

similar thing happened to me where my APR went from 7.25% to 17.90%, also for no apparent reason.  i just paid it off and vowed never to use them again.  CC companies will come crawling back when you do that.  trust me.

Vent - DH and I are selling our house (because we want to relocate). So we have a realtor that's selling our house and a different realtor who will be showing us potential houses Neither of them respond to my emails (timely)...they take forever to call me back...so I ditched the 'showing' realtor and have been trying to find another and NO ONE CALLS ME back... like really? You're doing that well you don't need any further business wtf? aggravating as shittt

es.  THis happened to me as well on two of my cards.  I can't beleive it as I pay off my entire balance each month!  Moreover, Bank of America actually sent me a letter saying that they were reducing my  credit limit, essentially because I didn't seem to need the higher limit.  Umm, excuse me, but this hurts my credit score!I called them and pitched a well behaved fit and they changed it back to the original terms.  Maybe try calling yours?Speaking of which, the cc companies have simply found new ways to make money with other charges.

They did pass a law saying they couldn't raise it without notice.

My vent is that I'm terribly afraid that our mortgage guy is going to forget to ask us for some paper work or proof of whatever and it's going to push our closing date back or even worse have us lose the mortgage. He hasn't been on top of it and it's making me super nervous.

Kris, what's up with that? You would think they'd be doing cart wheels to sell your house and be in touch with you. Leah, that sucks but glad you were able to get the original credit amount back. I did call but they won't do anything. Seabass, I don't recall getting anything but may have thought it was junk mail.

@justKris10 - I don't know where you're located but I can give you the name of the relator we used to buy our house last year. He was really great to work with.

this is going to happen to almost everyone, so be alert.  there is no law.  they can raise to whatever they like, but yes, they have to tell you.  to make up for all the a$$holes out there who screwed up credit card companies the good guys (us) have to pay.
