The Veil??

Where did you guys get your veil? I really don't want to spend the $200 for a veil that my bridal shop is charging so I would like to go elsewhere but how do you know what would work with your dress?

I got mine on etsy for $54 from seller BellaBridalVeils.  I love it.  I just kinda knew what I wanted with my dress. If you know the style you like that you tried on at the bridal shop, just get a similar style.

Veils pretty much cost that much unless you buy them on ebay or something.I spent around that and am now selling mine.

Got mine at Kleinfeld where I got my dress. You could always go back to your bridal store and try on a bunch of veils to see which one works best and then try to find something similar cheaper on the internet.

I figured out what I wanted because the salon saleswoman put a few veils on my head once I was wearing the sample of the dress I wanted. Plus I already had a pretty good idea of what I wanted (something VERY plain), so her having me model the salon veils just sealed the deal on what I knew I should get. Per cvl's recommendation, I ordered a plain chapel veil from BellaBridalVeils. The seller was very nice and went back and forth with me a few times on what I wanted to order. It's $35, so if it doesn't work out I can always buy a new one without taking too big a hit to the wallet. (The salon wanted to charge me $85 for an elbow-length plain veil. No thanks :P)In addition to Etsy, there are also a lot of eBay sellers that sell nice veils (maybe try asking on The Dress board as well). Occansey Designs also gets a lot of rave reviews - they were charging more than I wanted to pay for a plain veil, but that was only a matter of being about $10-20 more expensive than the Etsy seller so it wasn't a huge deal. I also have a couple friends who offered to loan me their veils, but they weren't what I wanted and wouldn't have matched my dress. Do you have friends who could loan you one? At least to model it with the dress to see what works?

It is really not hard to make a veil! My friend and I made mine... JoAnn Fabric sells "Bridal Veil Tulle" that has a beautiful, subtle shimmer to it. All you need is a plastic comb, cut it so it's got a rounded edge and you're good. Mine had the edge surged, but that needs a surger. I asked the lady who was doing my dress alterations to do that part, and it worked out great. I got to totally taylor the length and fullness to my dress! There are a lot of postings on the DIY board to make your own, or try googling it! Good luck!

I just got mine at headpiece.com  It's a store in Pompton Plains.  Their prices were cheaper than the bridal stores and had a big selection.
