Time Line for tastings

Hello all...I am just trying to get an idea of how far in advance you do/did your tasting for the wedding and the cake?  I am planning from RI, but come to NJ a lot.  FI gets real busy in Feb-March, so just want to be sure we have plenty of time.

Our tasting for the reception and the cake is tomorrow which is about 2 1/2 months before the wedding.

Check with your venue, they may already have a set time/date for this or a certain they like to do near the wedding.

oh yeah caketime makes an excellent point. Our tasting is a group tasting and was scheduled by the venue, we didn't just get to pick any date we wanted.

We did our tasting about 6 weeks before the wedding.  Our venue recommended doing it around then.  One thing to keep in mind if you schedule it that late is how long it will take to get menus turned around if you're having them made-- we probably couldn't have cut it much closer without driving our stationer crazy.

Ours was also 6 weeks before but we could choose the date. They did it at 6pm as there is also a restaurant at the Inn and the Chef was available to talk to us at that time.  I would check with your venue.
