Anyone eat Greek yogurt?

I've totally been holding out on you guys. Someone told me about mixing fat-free Greek yogurt with Splenda (or whatever sweetener you choose) and some extract (I use a tiny bit of almond extract). It is AMAZING! Really creamy and filling. I get a big container that says it's two servings, but it's more like 3 or 4 for me.Side note: My sister and FI think I'm crazy and that it doesn't taste good. I'm not a fan of most yogurts though, so that may be why I like it so much. It has this weird mouth feel that I enjoy. Also--do NOT eat it without sweetener. Trust me on that.

Yup!! Love it! I put some splenda and some thawed blueberries or other frozen fruit and it's DELICIOUS. Best snack ever IMO :)

OMG - I have been eating Chobani all week like it's my job.  I love it!!  Soo creamy.  I don't like plain or vanilla - I have been eating the ones with fruit.  Most are fat free except pineapple which has a 2 1/2 grams of fat.

someone at work told me it tasted like sour cream. And I HATE sour cream, so I never tried it.

I do the same thing. And the frozen blueberries too, sometimes. I also occasionally mix some cereal or some almonds for a little crunch

what brand are you using?  Maybe I will try the plain and add some sweetener-

It is also good with honey.  Definitely need some sweetener in it!

Ew, no I think it is gross. My H's former assistant is Greek and he told my H to try it. At the time, you couldn't get it at the regular grocery store so we had to go to Whole Foods. My H bought like a week's worth of the little cups b/c he swore it was so good - but he himself hadn't tried it. Well, I love yogurt and I just could NOT stomach this stuff and neither could my H. I think I eventually made it into smoothies or something but it was just not for regular consumption.

I love greek yogurt. Sometimes I add a spoonful of dip mix to the container and dip veggies in it :)

I could never get used to it.  I eat yogurt everyday and LOVE it so I thought I would like it, but there is something about the texture that gets me.  I tried the Choibani (sp?) blueberry one.  Maybe I will try the plain and use my own mix-ins.  I have heard the health benefits are great.

I love the Oikos honey yougurt. Its not sugar free, but still delicious!  Also as a hint to make yougurt taste better I add cinnamon to it  Yummy

I get the Fage, too. I've also had Oikos, but the grocery store here doesn't have it. Mixing it with honey is really good, too! But very sweet.Kate, sometimes the different brands can really vary in taste. (Unless, of course, you got one of the ones I mentioned and still hated it, lol.) I've tried other brands and thought they were gross.Cindy, if you don't put sweetener in, it is somewhat sour cream-esque. You definitely have to mix it with something (IMO).

I once mistakenly bought one of those pre-made fruit and yogurt things at the grocery store and it was SO good. Then read the label and realized it was the full-fat Greek yogurt--yeah 23 grams of fat is NOT worth it for yogurt, especially when I didn't even know it. =)

It was Fage. I remember that b/c they now carry it in my grocery store. What a difference (a little under) 3 years makes!

I have only seen the fruit and yogurt premixed ones at 0% and 2% fat.  I have never seen any yogurt at 23 grams - damn!

Yeah straight up Greek yogurt is really, really high in fat. It tastes even more awesome, but definitely not enough to justify that amount!

LOL, I can't eat yogurt at all. I have a texture issue with it.

Erika - what flavor/brand did you have?
  • edited December 2011
i've bought 2 different brands (cannot remember the names) and they both tasted like turds.

Did you try to eat it without sweetener or anything?I'm just trying to understand how something that tastes so good to me tastes horrible to others! =)

Makes sense. But that's why...tastes totally different with a sweetener (like regular yogurt already has). I don't like the texture of regular yogurt. It's like slimy to me. I am big on the mouth feel--I can't eat stuff that I don't like the texture of!

Bananas I can do cause I like the smooth inside. Pears are a no go. lol

I have only liked the ones that have fruit already - I tried Vanilla Chobani and hated it - didn't try another until later because i forced myself too - and then loved it - just a thought -

You guys are making me want to try this... I do eat yogurt, but plain.  Or I buy the fruit-on-the-bottom & don't mix it & don't eat all the way to the bottom.  No sweetener for me, I think I'm going to try Jenn's dip mix route!
