New Jersey

hi everyone!

I lurk here occasionally, but have felt impulse to respond to posts (especially ones by my April '10 board compatriots *waves at Laurms15, KimRhone and mbcdefg*)... so just figured I'd give a shout out and say hello! My story: I live in Rutherford but am getting married in my home state of MA on Cape Cod (so I hang out on the Cape Cod board too, but it's really slow). Getting married April 24, 2010. Hit the 7 month mark two days ago and pretty much started freaking out lol. Got most things covered but lots more to do! So jealous of all you U2 girls! I saw them in 2001 in Providence on Halloween... would love to see them again. Instead I just got caught in the traffic on Route 3 coming home from work... *sigh* FI and I are doing Pre-Cana at Our Lady of the Visitation in Paramus on Sunday (& next Friday)... anyone else going? Happy planning everyone!

Hi and welcome!  I'm opposite of you, live in MA getting married in NJ.  Where in Cape Cod is your wedding? I have family in Chatham. There's no place like the cape!

Hi and welcome!  My mom grew up right next door to you, in Lyndhurst.  My grandparents still live there.  Where in Cape Cod??

@Chelsea - Where in MA are you? Are you in Chatham now? @Holly - small world -- I go to the Lyndhurst library sometimes! We're getting married in the Upper Cape. Ceremony in Pocasset and reception in Bourne. My mom moved to Bourne about 6 years ago and I love going "home" to the Cape! But I am also falling for Rutherford, been there about a year and a half now. I just have the bad luck of being a Patriots fan living in Giants/Jets country, and it is painful these days, lol. At least in the summer time I can enjoy the Yankees in peace. Yes, I am a conflicted soul... my MA family don't understand my affinity for the Yankees at all (though it's my parents' "fault" I was born in the Bronx, not mine), so I have to be really quiet about it. Anyway, thanks for the welcome... hope you'll all still talk to me :D

Hey welcome to the Jersey board! We are not doing pre-cana yet the couple at our church who is supposed to be running it seem to be MIA. It's very strange! Let me know how it goes though.

I know Tewksbury (not well, but I know of it)! I grew up in Canton, down where 95, 93, and Route 1 get all messed up together).

Rutherford is a nice town, my brother lives & works for the town. We grew up in Lyndhurst, and now live across the river in Nutley.

When I first moved to Jersey (almost 4 years ago) I lived in Bloomfield. The one thing that trips me up being in Rutherford is trying to shop on Sundays in Bergen. I keep forgetting!

Yes, I know. Not sure if BJ's is even still open on Sundays. They would only allow food purchases on Sundays. Years ago, they would open stores on Sundays during the holiday season. I don't think they do that anymore either. Upside to stores being closed on Sundays - no traffic on the highways for the most part.

Welcome!  Nice to have another Patriots fan around!  ;)  I'm from NJ, but went to school in the Boston area which is where I discovered a strong affinity for MA sports.  My family affectionately calls me the "turncoat."Steven (my DH) is from MA.  His mother lives in Truro (all the way out) on the Cape.  And his father lives in Newton near Boston - so we're in Mass often.  We've been down here for awhile and he always says that aside for the traffic and the yankees he's adjusting fine.  lolWelcome to the board - happy planning.  :)

@Laurie - Pre-Cana yesterday was nice! The couples who led the session were really sweet and fun to listen to. FI is not Catholic (raised Presbyterian) and always teasing me about brainwashing him, but he seemed to enjoy the session too. Had some good conversations on the way home and during the evening too based on what was brought up in the session. We're supposed to go through the workbook they gave us during the week and then we go back on Friday night to finish. @Jeannine - I definitely appreciated the lack of traffic on the way up to Pre-Cana in Paramus yesterday. It's almost eerie; 17 is always so jam-packed otherwise! @Brooke - hi and thanks for the welcome! Wow... yes, nice to know there are other Pats fans out here! And my dad lives in Needham, a couple towns over from Newton.
