NWR Car rental companies

I need to rent a car for a couple of days when I'm in San Fran next week. Any recs for a company to use? I don't think I've ever rented a car before!

Hertz or Enterprise....You can do it online....Google coupon codes for both to see what percentage you can get off or an upgrade and put the code in on their site....I believe I used Enterprise though when I went to CA last year.

I usually rent from Hertz because I get good corporate rates and like their gold card service that I get for being a corporate member (get to wait in shorter lines in many places).  I'm guessing you don't have a corporate discount, but does your husband?  You may also be affiliated with a group that gets discount rates (I know the ABA and AICPA both do -- maybe one of you are part of something similar?)

I know FI is a gold member with some company, I just couldn't remember which one. He's on a business trip right now so I can't ask him yet. =) I think it might be Hertz, too. Hopefully he's earned some free days and wants to give them to me!I'm just getting anxious about reserving it (for my own peace of mind, not that they won't have a car) so I figured I would get an idea on here.

I have almost always gotten better rates renting at the airport. There are usually people walking around the rental area trying to get your business and they are willing to bargain with you (at least the last few times I went to Florida and Texas). I have cancelled reservations because I found something for almost half price at the airport. I dont know if San Fran is set up the same way but I would check that out. Also, usually get the best discounts from Hertz and Alamo (sp?)HTH
