Marriage blessed by the Pope?

Anyone having their marriage blessed? I just read online that this is possible.  Apparently your parish can do this for you if you request it.  Just wondering....

    We were in Rome and I had a cross blessed by the Pope. I dropped the cross off and it was returned to me by mail in an envelope. I don't know what I was really expecting, but it didn't do much for me because you don't see the blessing, hear the words etc. I mean, are they going to send your marriage certificate over there and have it blessed and you get it back? Just seems silly to me, but that's just me.

    yes we did--priest got this for us as part of our wedding gift b/c he knew we wanted it.
