Krystyna's for WEDDING dress alterations

Has anyone used Krystyna's tailor shop for wedding dress alterations? I've seen great reviews for her on other things only (bridal party dresses, suits, etc) but few people who have written reviews have gone to her for their wedding dresses. If you know another tailor in the triangle area who you love, please let me know.

PLEASE DO NOT POST ABOUT OLGA: I'm not trying to be mean, I'm not trying to be obnoxious. I know she's the best out there - that's why she's booked from now until at least 2 months after my wedding. I need helpful advice/review, not more people tellng me what a wonderful opportunity I've missed.

Thank you in advance for your help.

I haven't heard of that one.  I like Lee's taylors for my work clothes, and I've seen them working on bridal gowns before.  If you're just looking for something simple, like hemming, they might be a good place to try.

Thanks for the advice on Lee's.  I do need both a hem and a bustle, although I'm worried about the hem as it has a lace edge. Which means it probably can't be hemmed at all, but I figured I'd see what needs to be done once my shoes get in.

A lace dress can be hemmed -- what they have done to make the hem originally is they cut the body of the lace, then apply a lace border as an applique.  So, what they do to hem the dress is remove the applique, cut the lace to the appropriate length, then re-apply the applique edge at the right hem length.  It's pretty involved and you'll want someone experienced.  I don't have any good tailors to recommend in the Durham/Chapel Hill area, but my dress is getting its alterations with the alterations lady (Jean) at the David's Bridal in Greenville NC.  I don't know if they are allowed to work on dresses from elsewhere, but you might call and ask if they will do private work for you.  I live in Durham/Chapel Hill but went all the way to Greenville because 1) store was better, and 2) alterations has a better reputation.

There are a couple of shops that advertise wedding dress alterations in the area, so you might just walk in and ask to see samples of their work, pictures of their work, etc.  Maybe that will help you to find someone experienced enough to work on your wedding gown?

    Good luck!!

I posted on here about Krystyna too, but, unfortunately, no one seemed to have any experience with her.  My BFF/BM used her for her dress and she had nothing but great things to say about her. I wanted a second opinion, so I posted on here asking about her.   I've decided to trust my friend's opinion and use Krystyna.  My wedding is in May and my portrait is in April.  When I called Krystyna she said I didn't need to bring it in until three weeks before I needed it.

my best friend used duke's tailors off of creedmoor (behind the new container store) for her wedding dress and she was extremely pleased!

they did pretty much all of our bridesmaid dresses and i think they did a good job as well.  might be worth looking into.
