DIY Invitations

For the brides/grooms that DIYed their invitations, did you create the look of your invitation (graphics, fonts, etc.)?  If so, what program did you use to create the graphics?I posted about self mailer invitations yesterday evening.  Now I'm toying with the idea of making the entire invitation layout/look, but don't know where to start.I'm also contemplating buying a custom template from Etsy, but I don't even know how that works either.Has anyone done either?  If so, advice on both would be appreciated.  Thanks in advance.

I am not going to entirely answer your question.  I am just putting that out there first.  My SIL is designing my invites for my but I imagine it would work the same with an etsy seller.  She is going to design them and then send me the files which I will then take to get printed at Kinkos or Staples.  But then I would make the pocket folds or buy the pocketfolds to put them in.If you wanted to make them yourself I have heard of girls using power point to make the files and then printing and assembling them in the same way.

I downloaded some flourish fonts and created my design by multiplying the flourish and making the design.

I'm sure you can use word, ppt, or any program to create it. I used photoshop, although there's not much complicated about mine. Pics in bio under paper if you want to see.HOWEVER- I'm at the point of test printing and it's seriously becoming a big PIA!!

I used istockphoto.com. for the images.  I played around with them & designed my invites in MS Publisher & a little Photoshop.  If I knew Photoshop a little better, I would have used that for everything.

My fiance is using photoshop to create the invitations. For some general ideas I went searching on Etsy.

I was a big DIY bride but realized quickly that Invites were not something I wanted to DIY since I am easily frustrated when it comes to printing complications and not being too familiar with graphic design stuff.  I worked with a freelance designer (similar to finding someone on Etsy) and had her create everything.  I have used her for various things, from having her design and print invites, to just creating design files that I have had printed myself.  I would highly recommend Jennifer Crawford – metzcrawford@hotmail.com if interested.  She was super affordable and was able to combine various aspects of designs from different invites I had seen.  HTH
