Cakes in the Triangle

I am searching for someone to make my wedding cake in the Raleigh area. I am ideally looking for someone who does cakes "on the side" rather than a bakery. We are having 250-300 people at the wedding and I'm looking to save some money on the cake. Does anyone have any names for me?

    Definitely Cinda!  She works out of her house so her prices are reasonable & her cakes are delicious!

    She did our wedding cake (its the hedgehog one) and it was SOO delicious! She also works out of her home.

    We're actually picking up our 1 year anniversary cake in a couple weeks :o)

    I am working with Lori at simply cakes, who is wonderful. Looking at her website, she charges the same as Cinda, and will send you a fresh cake for your anniversay! If you're looking for someone who's main business is not wedding cakes, try Guglhupf bakery in Durham. They charge by the tier rather than the serving, so you can probably save a lot of money that way. I think they took their pricing website down, but I remember it being significantly cheaper than a lot of other local vendors.

    We're using Cinda too. We wanted a 5 tier cake, and she is able to do it using smaller pans so that we can also use sheet cakes to save some money. She ended up being the least expensive AND best tasting so it was an easy choice for us!

    I recommend Stephanie English! She is AWESOME and works out of her house (but is looking into buying space in the Cary area for a bakery). Her prices are incredibly reasonable and she does a wide variety of cakes. She's actually doing cupcakes for us for the wedding and our grooms cake. Her website is a little dated, but I highly suggest you meet her in person and try her cakes. She does tastings every Monday at Starbucks in Cary.
