Olde Mill Inn reception venue?

We are considering several NJ ceremony/reception venues. Did anyone have a good/bad experience at the Olde Mill Inn/Grain House Restaurnt in Basking Ridge, NJ? Thanks!

I've been to a lot of corporate parties there.  Never a bad experience.

i loved the look of the restaurant, but you can't get married there.  therefore i was not impressed, but i don't like your standard ballrooms.  the grounds were cute outside where the hotel rooms all look into the courtyard, and i like having the whole place to yourself.  the grain house room was okay, all i remember is not being able to stand up where the "bridal suite" was bc the ceilings were like 6' high...

allie - my friend had her ceremony there.  In a room upstairs. I went to my friends wedding here new years even last year.  I had a blast, and everything was great.  It's a cute and quaint place...not for a HUGE wedding.  The rooms were really nice and clean too.

I'm having my wedding at the Grain House. So far, I have been happy with everything and they have been very accomodating. We are having a small wedding.  They told me they recently renovated the Grain House. The bridal suite is actually cute and you can stand it in so not sure if alliecarrie saw it before the renovation (it might have been a different room prior to the renovation);  however the hallway ceiling getting to the bridal suite is low and slanted (top of an old house). I wanted our wedding outside, a place different than a typical reception site, and overnight accomodations on site so we felt this met it. The inn is also very nice if you are having a larger wedding. Hope this helps!

I always thought you can have a ceremony outside by the gazebo facing the river.

JeannineG122 - yes that's where the ceremony for weddings at the grain house take place. that's where mine is going to be. If the wedding is at the inn, it is in the courtyard however I believe that if there isn't a wedding at the grainhouse that evening they would let you have it outside by the river.

Years ago I worked for the company that did the landscape architecture for them.  Old Mill is part of Bocina Development.  Not sure if Tom Curnin is still there, he's a great guy.

yes, they call the room part of the grain house but its the room upstairs, not the restaurant.

im having my reception at the grain house and we love it!  the intimate setting and the room downstairs is gorgeous.  if you are having your wedding spring-fall they'll have a tent sent up and the doors open so it extends the room.

One of my friends had their wedding there and my family has had functions there and we loved it. We thought the food was great, only thing is the Old Mill Inn can be a little pricey when they hear wedding, we loved it but just couldn't fit it in our budget for the wedding.

Thanks for the feedback! I do think they are a tad pricier than the other comparable venues for what you get. Is the food worth the extra money? We are having a smaller wedding (about 100 ppl) and there are not a lot of venues that will only guarantee 100. Any other suggestions besides Grain House?
