Another RSVP Vent

So even though our RSVP deadline is not until Oct 31, we asked my FMIL to start making calls.  Out of the 100 people they invited, less than half have even responded so we are like 40 people under our minimum so we don't want to wait until the last second to try and find 'seat fillers.'FMIL made a stink about calling early, which I understand, but the reason my mom is insisting she start is that apparently for my shower, over 10 (out of 25) of HER guests NEVER rsvped and did not return her phone calls until the day before the shower to say they WERE coming.  We can't have them deciding the day before that they are coming!FI just texted me about 2 relatives (and they are not old) who ARE coming but "don't expect the rsvp to come back" so I asked him what they were planning to do if his mom did not call, just show up to the wedding and hope they had a seat and he said that they would probably not come unless they got a 'personal phone call'WTH???  Sorry if I am being a beebee, it is just so annoying.

What is so freakin hard about replying?? It's not like people have to buy their own stamps.  Is it tough to get to a mailbox?! I don't blame you.  Just try to relax for now and if it gets closer towards the cut-off then talk to FMIL again or have your fi tell her she must call those people. ps - 100 ppl from their side.... geez

That's annoying....I can feel your pain....I had over 100 outstanding RSVPs after my due date.

KLE---that was my exact reaction.  They need a PERSONAL PHONE CALL?? wha???I mean, obv. there is always a lot of last minute people, but nearly everyone from my side has answered (and there are a lot more of them!) Almost all the slackers are on his side.  Put the darn thing in the mailbox already!!

As if the invitation that was addressed to them was not personal enough?  Freakin write your name and put the thing in the salf addressed STAMPED evelope and freakin mail it really is not difficult people especially when most people put it in their purses and mail it from work.  WTF - I would be like then don't come, but that is just the bytch in me.

That is crazy....a personal phone call??? Perhaps you should have included a separate note in their invite letting them know how much you wanted them to come cuz the invite and spending 100++ pp doesnt say we really want to share our day with you. I am definately not looking forward to that part of this whole process.

WOW. The invitation isn't enough? Are you sure the call is enough? Maybe they won't come unless a hired driver shows up the morning of...jeez

They don't even need to go to a mailbox or the post office...if they leave it in their own...like when they go to get the mail, the mailman will take it....OMG!!! I totally hear ya!

OMG I KNOW!!! Mine are due tomorrow and I missing 30 people! How f'ing hard is it the stamp is already on the fricken envelope!!

Next time I get an RSVP I will send it out the same day I get it!  I'm never going to put somebody through this.

Bride - I think that is a great idea and while you are their ask them for the RSVP and say watch this and put it in their mail box for them.  LOL!

That really sucks that so many are outstanding. But, your wedding is only 3 weeks away, so while they have time till your RVSP date, it is certainly acceptable to start calling now. That's why I had my RSVP date a month before the wedding.  Good luck!!!

these people need a real crotch shot!!!  try not to worry about it.  CAn you have FI take care of stuff like this as to not stress you out?   People are SO lazy.  Just check yes or no, and stick it in the mailbox.  It's THAT simple!!!
