Registry at Target?

Sorry I know there's been a post about this before but I can't find it in the search. Has anyone used Target? How was your experience with it?

The general consensus has been to avoid target. They change their merchandise frequently so what you register for may not be available when your guests go to buy and they have a difficult return policy. Most brides seems to go with Bed bath and beyond. I am registered there for kitchen stuff, picture frames, vases etc. and plan to register at Bloomingdales for bedding towels and luggage. I think a lot of people also use macys. They have (or had) some program where you get money back and a discount on anything not purchased. HTH.

I've heard nightmare stories about Target registries with their return policy and them not updating their websites or something (ie you get 3 of things and cannot return!). I went with Macy's and Crate & Barrel. Good luck and have fun- the idea of using the gun to scan things was the only way to get my FI to be interested!

Thanks. I'm going to register at Macy's but I wanted to pick one more place. I know a lot of people register at Bed Bath and Beyond but I'm sure if I will. I got a few gift cards from there and I feel like I can never find things that I like. The only reason why I might because they send a million coupons out so I'm sure people wouldn't mind using them.

ditto pps... If you don't want BBB....try Crate and Barrel, Pottery Barn, Renovation Hardware, William Sonoma...

Check out the BBB website. The stores only carry a portion of what they sell and since many people shop online (and can use those coupons online) you may be able to find more things you like. I started my registry in store and go on to the website every so often and add to it from there.

I'm thinking of doing a honeymoon one too.  I'm trying to get registered for a few things before the holidays. Our families want to get us gifts for Christmas off of the registry. I'm trying to get that together somewhat soon since people like to start shopping early.

I found BBB and Macy's have a lot of the same "essential" items. I also didn't do BBB b/c I can never find things to buy there! The store just turns me off in general- but that is just me :-)

I've heard mixed reviews. Mostly negative ones on this board, but a real-life friend had a Target registry and loved it. And if people were going to give me gift cards, I'd rather get them for Target over other stores. We registered at BB&B. My mom insisted that we pick a second "upscale" place, so we did one at Macy's as well.

BB&B kind of turns me off too, I can't figure out why... we were very happy with our Williams-Sonoma registry, if you're looking for kitchen stuff. As much as I <3 Target, I have only heard awful, awful things about their registry.

If you're registering at Macy's you probably don't want another store with a wide variety of merchandise (like BBB or Target). I would pick a specialty store. We're doing Macy's and Williams Sonoma.

We used Kohls and Macys. Tiff also used Kohls and had a bad experience. I prefer their towel & linen lines to Macys and BBB - good quality but inexpensive, plus they have great sales. We received every last thing on our Kohls registry, probably because of the sales and the in-store selection.

JC Penney & Sears also have gift registries. Probably at a similar or maybe even lower price point than Macys.

I would check out all the stores and see who has the most of what you are looking for. If you are looking for a traditional registry Macys or Bloomingdales will have all of that stuff. If you are looking for fun stuff to decorate because you already have the basics check out restoration hardware, crate and barrel and some stores like that. Just make sure you have a variety of price points and the stores are either national or online.
