Crockpot users

Although I LOVE and was obsessed with the idea of one, I can't bring myself to leave it on. Do you actually leave the thing on all day--when you leave the house for long periods at a time?

Yes I always leave it on.  Usually I leave it on the low setting since it'll be cooking all day.  I admittedly don't use it as often as I'd like, but I've never had a problem with it being left on all day.

lol I am the same way Rosie! I just don't want to leave it on and leave the house! I've done a few of the 2-3 hour recipes while I'm home...

Nope I don't leave mine on. Hubby has OCD so freaks out if I leave it on while we aren't home LOL. Use it only on my days off.

I leave it on when I'm not home but I'm more afraid that dog will jump up and burn himself than I am about a fire.  I leave it on the stove top, not a counter top, and put a gate up against the stove so the pup won't go near it--helps that he's afraid of gates. One of my favorite recipes cooks for the most part overnight so we wake up to yummy smells and then put it on low for dinner that night.

I used to, but I stopped doing it once I got my cat (I was afraid of a fire starting and him being trapped). But mine didn't have a timer. I would leave it on overnight if I was at home, though.

FI used to be the same as Amerz DH, but once my mother sat him down and explained he felt much better about it and let me do it today, I refuse to do 2 hour meals because I'm stubborn so today we used it for 8 hours  :)

i haven't used it while being at work all day, but on the weekends I'll use it even if i'm going out since it's not long periods of time.  I'm thinking of getting over my fear and using it during the week because it would make dinner so easy.

Oh yeah, mine has a timer so it will shut itself off. I imagine it would be harder to leave on if it didn't because you might not always know when you'll be home, etc.

Yea. I am not sure that I can... Another question....so does the chicken get tough or is it tender? It looks kind of tough to me? Haha sorry...my mom was anti crockpot so this is my first experience with one ever:)

You have to make sure there's enough liquid in there otherwise it can get tough. And cook it on low if that's an option.

nope!  i do not feel comfortable leaving it on while i'm at work.  if i have to run out for a little bit, i'm fine with that, but not an entire work day.

I was nervous about leaving it on all day, but I finally gave in and let DH do it. The food comes out great and we do it all the time now. It's wonderful to come home and NOT have to cook =) (then again, I don't cook anyway, but at least DH doesn't have too)
