outdoor ceremony locations - help?

Hi all - this is my first post, although i've been reading the posts on here for a few months (sorry for it being a long one).  My name is Dana and i'm getting married next May.  Until now, I was lucky enough not to have any wedding drama, but now i'm hoping you all can help.  My reception is in Red Bank, and originally I wanted to have the ceremony in Riverside Park.  Come to find out that RB has a new policy of not allowing any wedding ceremonies in any of their parks.  About 6 months ago I contacted Monmouth Univ. and spoke with someone about having the ceremony in the gardens of Woodrow Wilson Hall.  They told me it was fine, even though I wasn't alumni, gave me a price (it was nominal), and told me to call back 6 months before the wedding date to book, as they didn't take reservations earlier.  Last week I tried to book it, but received a call late last night informing me that the "policy changed" and if you're not alumni or a student, they now charge $10,000 to use the garden (or pretty much anywhere else on campus).  I'm furious that they wouldn't honor their word - and for my wasting 6 months to find somewhere else.So now i'm out of ideas for places for our ceremony - which is where i'm hoping you all can help.  I always wanted an outdoor ceremony, and because my FI is not religious, my mother is marrying us (she's a judge).  I've googled to no end, but just can't find anywhere other than Deep Cut park within 20 min of Red Bank to have a ceremony -  and I wasn't so into having it on the beach - ok if its a boardwalk, just didn't pick a dress that would do so well in sand.  Any ideas are appreciated!!

Welcome! Can't really help here- but I do LOVE Deep Cut and think it would be a beautiful place for a ceremony. Is there something you don't like about it? Other than that only thing I can think of is contacting some of the Beach Clubs in Sea Bright/Monmouth Beach to see if they have any areas. Where is your reception? They don't have an outdoor spot?Also- weird question... do you have a sister that used to work at Papyrus in RB?

Does your reception hall have an outdoor ceremony space? Plus it would be good idea to be close to a Plan B in case it rains.

That's so funny - my sister did work at Papyrus - how do you know her?The reception is at Oyster Point, and unfortunately they don't have any outdoor space.  I tried asking if the Molly Pitcher would let us use their patio, since they're owned by the same company, but that didn't go so well, considering it's a saturday night in May.  Deep cut did look nice, so I was going to contact them, but i'm just not sure a big garden is my thing - partly because I have horrible allergies and don't want to sneeze my way through the ceremony.

I was in there last winter and found cute favor boxes- my BM and I were going crazy over them b/c they were like 70% off and began talking to your sister and she said "oh my sister just got engaged too!" and turned out we have the same wedding day! May 22... then she said you were looking to have your ceremony at Riverside Gardens and you knew someone in town so you would be able to do it and I said "ahh I wanted to take my pictures there- but I hope she can work it out!" and we talked a bit about where you were having your wedding etc- she was super cute! If you have allergies I would stay away from Deep Cut Gardens with all the flowers... What time are you looking to have your ceremony? May be weird but my reception is at Channel Club starting at 6 and I'm not having my ceremony there- it's a beautiful outdoor ceremony spot if you would be out in time for them to set up for me :-) I don't mind sharing.

That is so sweet of you - thank you so much!!!  We were going to do the ceremony around 4/430, and you picked such a great venue - I love it there.  I will definitely contact their coordinator to find out if its even possible.  Also, I just called Deep Cut and that would be out anyway - only permit ceremonies for 30 ppl or less... And it really is such a small world - I remember her calling and telling me that she met someone else with my date in the area.  I already miss that Papyrus discount...too bad the store closed.Thank you so much again for your generous offer!!

I was looking for the same thing.  Deep cut was way too small.  I also thought about doing it in one of the other parks in Monmouth county but they dont allow chairs.  If that doesnt bother you maybe you could do that.  Those were the only options I came up with in my search.

Have you considered the Pavillion on the boardwalk in Ocean Grove?
