paper lanterns

My venue has an outdoor bar on a deck and I'd like to decorate the area. I want to hang paper lanterns over the bar area. The sites I've looked at recommend cords to hang the lantern so lights can be place inside. The problem is there isn't anywhere to plug the cords. Has anyone seen or are they using lanterns without lights? I was thinking of hanging the lanterns from clear string and putting in a small battery light.

well, for my centerpieces I didn't want to waste candles so I had little tea lights that turned on, LED style. I used them without lights.  I just wanted the fun color to dress it up a bit.  What color are you looking for anyhow, seeing as I have some?

I got ones from bed bath and beyond that have batteries in them and dont have to be plugged in.  Also if you search on weddingbee.com some of the girls there have found a way to put mini leds in them that run off hearing aid sized batteries.
