I just read in the other thread how you really like the D3000.  If it meets your budget, I would go for it.  It will be better than getting a new P&S.  Just realize it's limitations going into it.  You may never feel the need or want to add more lenses and expand, and in that case it will be fine.  It's just that if you do feel you will expand and upgrade later, the rebel is a better and more economical starting point.Not a bad price!http://www.abesofmaine.com/item.do?item=CNEOSRDXSI1855

i'm gonna look at the rebel!  i trust your judgement more than mine.. on cameras at least ;P  ps. maybe i'll wait until next christmas to ask for the $10,000 lens!
