Olga question

Sorry, I haven't been very active on the board at all, we've been engaged so long (18 month engagement by wedding in Oct) that we've taken things so easy.

Anyway, my dress recently came in and even with my 4.5in heels I had picked out, it's too long.  It's a lace, trumpet skirt dress, with scalloped edging so I was told it would have to be taken in from the seam where it begins to flare out. My appts with Olga begin in July, anyone had her do anything similar, how much did it cost?  Just trying to figure out if it's worth the 1/2-1in to take up or just get taller shoes (yikes)!

Thanks ladies!

I don't know if it depends on what the fabric is, but she told me $14-16 per yard for the hem and mine had three layers. If its more detailed it may be more. I go back tomorrow for my next fitting and my dress was quite a bit too long so I will let you know how much it cost for mine then.

    HTH!

Yup, it all depends on the detail and material. I had Taffta and Satin. . I think it was like 10 or so a yard for one of them and a little more for the over (probably the satin since it's heavier).

If you can walk in higher heels. . and you're comfortable with that. . go for it. I'd break my neck though. I wear kitten heels. Plus Im alread 6ft. . I dont need to be taller lol.

Thanks for the info!  It's definitely worth at least asking her about taking it up, as comfortable as I am in heels, it'd be nice to have other options! :)

Bellamisto43- So I went back Saturday for my second fitting and she told us how many yards she had to take off with them hem. It seemed like she didn't measure by the length by how much all the way around, so even though mine had a lot of fabric it was only 2 yards so it ended up costing me for the hem only $28. She does amazing jobs with bustle I can't wait to see mine when I go back to pick it up this Saturday.
