That sounds a tad steep to me. I've been investigating Ireland for our honeymoon and have found similar packages for about half that price that include your own rental car to get around. They don't include airfare, but you can get a flight out of Newark for about $300-$400 these days, so it shouldn't add another grand per person. Try these sites for other options: http://www.authenticireland.com/ireland+travel+packages http://www.visitireland.com/attractions/selfdrive_irelandbb.asp http://www.myguideireland.com/selfdrive

I personally think that is reasonable, it looks like you are staying at some nice hotels.  And anything that has your sightseeing and transportation included is up my alley, I hate having to plan everything myself. I enjoy have others lead me around on vacation!  I have been to Ireland twice, you willl love it!

I should add that I don't think it's an unreasonable price for that package, I'm just letting you know that there are similar packages out there for less.

I know nothing about travel here so when DH told me about it I was like... whoa that seems pretty steep but than after minimal research I wasn't sure.

I went to Dublin last summer and we spent about 1600 per person for 5 nights at the Gresham Hotel, no breakfast or tours.  So that price doesn't seem to unreasonable.  I would look into reviews for the hotels, because I vaugely remember that Temple Bar Hotel got some bad reviews for being a bit sketchy.

that does sound kinda expensive. i stayed at temple bar. it was nice and had a good breakfast. if you are sold on booking a "tour" maybe look around. are you sold on doing the northern part of ireland? another way to see ireland that would be much less expensive would be to do bed and breakfasts in the towns you want to stay in. last i was there was 2005 and it was 35 euro per person for 1 night with breakfast. it may have gone up, not sure. also, there was much more to see outside of dublin than actually in dublin. IMO if you are going to ireland you must do the ring of kerry tour, which is a 1 day bus tour on the coast and see the cliffs of moher.
