Am I being a baby?

I got an invitation to a dinner hosted by the same company that invited me to Italy. 2 weeks ago when I got back from Italy, I asked mh if he would go with me and he said yes. Well, I reminded him yesterday (dinner is tonight) and I know he's overwhelmed with work and he told me he has too much to do to take a night off. I know he works really hard but I am so sick of going to things by myself or finding a last minute replacement for him. I really wanted him to meet and mingle with me, especially because he speaks Italian and it would be a nice, free night out for us.

    I dont think so I think its normal to want the people closest to us when there important events going on ....I understand completely where he is coming from but  I think I would buck up and go even if it was for a few hours

    Yeah, I'd be mad too. He could've told you sooner that he wanted to bail out (unless something suddenly came up).

    It is understandable to be frustrated, but if he can't take a night off, he can't take a night off.  Also, if he's worried about work, he isn't going to enjoy himself or be good company.

    I understand he's stressed and wants to get everything done (he's a perfectionist) but we still have to have a life. It's all in the timing...maybe I'll make him a nice lunch and ask again. LOL
