New Jersey

Bands

Does anyone have any NJ bands they can recomend? We're getting married in June and looking for a band that can do great older rock songs, preferably with several instruments, as well as newer pop songs.

I've seen New Power Soul at a couple of bridal shows and really liked them, I think they fit your description (male and female singer with rhythm section and 3 horns - sax, trumpet and trombone).  If we could afford a band I would definitely consider them.  If you want to hear them they exhibit with the Wedding Set Go bridal shows.  GL! :)

9 pieces including a brass section.  They offer live private showcases to hear them every few weeks, check out their website.   They did a great job at our wedding

We used Time Machine. They were truly amazing. EVERYONE was dancing and months later people still tell us how awesome the band was.

I'll second Time Machine.  Not cheap, but worth every penny.

We hired the Dreamteam of the NYC Swing company.  We wanted a 10 piece band that could really rock and that had a large horn section.  We requested that they play mostly Rock, R&B, and some Pop.  We HIGHLY recommend them.  Six months after the wedding, our guests still talk about the band and how much fun they were!  Our dance floor was packed.

When my husband and I were shopping for bands, we found it frustrating that so many bands only handed out CDs or DVDs.  We really wanted to see them live before making such a costly decision.  The Dreamteam plays live showcases, so you can feel their vibe and see how they relate to a crowd.

Bands aren't cheap and you can expect to pay  @ $1,000 or more per musician.

I'm using Silk Band - which is by the same company as Time Machine. I would also say that Smokin' Section sounded great at their showcase!

I'll fourth (or whatever) Time Machine Band! We are using them at our February wedding and couldn't be happier so far - we found them on a recommendation from a friend who attended a wedding they played. Though she was seven months pregnant and emphatically NOT a dancer, she told us she didn't leave the floor all night.

The time machine is really good. My aunt used the forever ago and they were great then too. Their other band, I think it is Silk is also great. We are using Veronica Martell Entertainment and they are terrific- my sister also used them and they sound just like the real sounds and the dance floor was packed!

Craig Scott Entertainment has lots of great bands at different price points.  Our friends had the Craig Scott Orchestra and we went with Phase One.
