Churches near The Palace for Non Members

Hello!
We are getting married at The Palace at Somerset Park in July 2014 and I want to be married in a church nearby as mine is much too far from the venue.  Has anyone been married there who used a church being a nonmember? I have a list of churches from The Palace but before I go in wanted to hear if anyone had any feedback!

Thanks so much!!

Re: Churches near The Palace for Non Members

  • I was not married at The Palace, however I can tell you the trouble I had with trying to get a church that I was a non-member in.  It basically didn't work.  We went with an officiant and got married at our venue.  All churches that I called would not marry us if we were not members.  It basically all comes down to money and it's quite ridiculous.  I hope you do find a church that will do this for you but in my experience, it didn't work.  Good luck!
  • It's very difficult to find a Church to marry you if you're not a member, but it can be done.

I hate to say this, but Churches in poor areas are much more likely to marry you if you're not a member.  The upside is alot of them are older and very pretty, so even if the neighboorhood isn't great, you'll still have a beautiful ceremony.

    Good luck.

  • What type of church are you looking for (Catholic, etc)?  What is the maximum distance from the Palace you would consider?

  • Hello! We are looking for a church within 15-20 minutes of The Palace...We have 18 months until our wedding so we are considering joining a parish and then in a few months going in to inquire about the date but would rather just be able to go to a nice church and be married by them.  Thank you so much for any and all feedback!
  • I don't know if you need to be a parish member to have your wedding there, but St. Joseph's in Hillsborough is very nice.

I'm a member of Christ Church in South Amboy, NJ. It's about 20 minutes way from the Palace. The church is episcopal. As far as I know, there have been people married there without being a member of the parish. Good luck
