Need opinions about Engagement ring

My sister is divorced by recently got engaged again.  The guy is also divorced and a really nice guy.  However, he got her a gemstone engagement ring.  It's nice, but I feel like he cheaped out.  What do you think?  I think a diamond would have looked a lot classier...

    Prince William spent $0 on Kate's engagement ring and it wasn't a diamond either. :-)

    Maybe they talked about it before hand and she said she liked a gemstone? If it hadn't been talked about previously, I would think it was odd if I was given a gem stone engagement ring... not necessarily "cheaping out" but odd.

    Okay so I just checked out some your post OP.  I find it funny that you felt the need to post on 3 or 4 different boards about your cousin who spent $3000 on a wedding dress, and you find that to be way to much.  However in another post you wrote that you own several pairs of Jimmy Choos, and now you are saying that your sister's FI cheaped out because he didn't get her a Tiffany's E-Ring, like your FI got you.  

    Ummmm, but who made you the boss of other people's money?
