Let's talk "DJs Only"

Ok, I have no idea why I'm the one looking for vendors for my friends' wedding...in all fairness, I'm a lot less busy (read: I'm unemployed!) than they are.

LOVED my DJ (Danny C) way up Rt. 23/Morris County...but my friends work in NYC, live in Jersey City, are getting married in West Orange so in terms of making appointments to meet DJs, Danny's a bit far.

I honestly never paid attention to DJs b/c we loved Danny, booked him immediately.

So... non-cheesy DJ, not necessary to have GOBOs, giveaways, etc... good with music, & what you considered a fair price for this area?

Not sure how far she wants to go with the no cheesiness thing, but if she doesn't even want an emcee really, A Starry Night (in NYC) and Aria Melody both specialize in the no cheesiness/no announcements unless something very important is going on (or not at all if you don't want any) approach.  We used A Starry Night and were very happy.

We will be using Elite Sound Entertainment in Saddle Brook- they seemed great and tons of positive reviews, not cheesy

i 2nd elite sound entertainment from saddle brook...we used them for our wedding, and they were fantastic! and not cheesy at all.....we got a lot of compliments on how great the music was....

they also did our friends wedding (wedding was before ours, but we booked them before we knew they were doing their wedding)...it was a different dj, but everyone was up dancing there too

Colorblind Productions! They have a menu of services to choose from, they are very willing to do/not do anything you want (i.e., we're not doing giveaways). We're paying $1400 for ceremony, cocktail hour, and 4 hour reception + personalized gobos. Definitely....not cheesy! Oh....and they're in Hillside I believe.

We are using Danny C too.... I can't imagine using anyone else!!!!!
He is super far from us too ~ he is near Kinnelon and we are in North Brunswick!
But honestly, I think Danny is worth the trip.... I would have driven out of state if I had to! He has been more like my assistant wedding planner than my DJ... we got so many great ideas & vendor referrals because of him.
But you used him too, so I know I don't need to tell you that! =P

Heather, it was about 2 years ago when someone ELSE said "he knows so much; he's been like a wedding planner!" that I thought " I have to meet this guy..."

DH & I instantly clicked with him and he was probably my favorite vendor.
