OPI Gel Manicure Take 2

I went again today to have it soaked off and redone.  It lasted 2 weeks but I did a lot of cleaning and yard work, so I think it might have lasted longer had I not been so rough on it.  I like it much better this time, but I now hate the place where I went.  I have to find somewhere else to go.  The woman was borderline nasty when I pointed out she was putting the wrong color on and kept jerking my hands and arms around.  If my nails didn't look like total sh!t after soaking I would have walked out.

what's the difference with this and a regular manicure? is it like getting tips or something?

IT's like the LCN gel, but they just paint your regular nails with it and don't use that dremel thing.  It lasted two weeks.  A regular manicure doesn't stand a chance on me for more than 3 days.  I'm experimenting for nice nails for the wedding :)

I forgot to say earlier that this time she used some off brand stuff too.

Thanks for the update on this.  I have been debating having this done but (despite your bad customer service experience) I think I will give it a try now that I hear that you like it.  Do you have to soak it off each time you get it done?

Yes, it's kind of a pain, but it seems better for your nails than using that dremel thing with the pink and white.  I soaked a little, she scraped the goopy stuff off, soaked some more, scraped, etc.  At the end she just filed them with a regular file.  They didn't seem thinner or weaker than usual once it was all off- and they definitely grew.

The lady today asked me what color I wanted, I told her bubble bath, it's a really light pink.  I don't have long nails and always wear a light color.  She started my thumb with bright pink and it looked weird to me, so I looked at the lid and it was a different color.  She said, "we always do it this way, we mix two, you did this last time"  I could see it was much darker, so I told her I didn't.  Then she told me that two coats of the color I like, "is too light"  I said, "for who?  you?  I'm the one that's wearing it"  Not pleasant.

I've been getting them for the past 3 weeks myself (so 2 manicures) and so far it's been a great experience.  They don't chip, and the polish stays nice and shiny for two weeks.  When I do my own nails or get a maincure, they usually only last for a couple days.  I feel much girlier now.  Smile

It's in Lake Hiawatha near Parsippany- I can't actually remember the name right now though.  Before finding this place, I went to Bliss Spa in Wayne and it was AWFUL.  Within 24 hours, 3 of the nails' gel had just peeled off.  They were alot more expensive, too.  I think about $60, and the place I've been using is $35 and they are running a $15 off special for the next couple months.

Hi, I don't normally post much but just wanted to let you all know if you are anywhere near Lyndhurst they do this OPI Manicure on Ridge Road at Glow Nail and Spa. They have tons of colors and it's $30. I have gone 2x's and had good experiences.

Sucks that you had such a bad experience with your nail salon.  I just recently saw it advertised at the nail salon I go to in downtown jersey city.

I LOVE that place!  When I lived in Morristown, that was where I went all the time for mani/pedis  I'm in Sparta now, but I found a place near one of my accounts (I'm a sales rep) so that will work.  I just happened to drive by yesterday.  It looks much nicer than the last place I went.
