Techno DJs in Central NJ (-ala- Nic's DJ from 4 Weddings)

I looove indie rock (but most of it unfortunately isn't danceable) and I really don't enjoy about 3/4 of the music that is customarily played at weddings, and I'm not even mentioning the chicken dance, macarena, etc. - FMIL loves this stuff, I hate it.

Techno music that isn't too terribly loud seems like it might be a good danceable compromise. Obviously we have a lot of songs that we do want to hear, but then there's all the filler music.

I got the idea from Nic's 4 Wedding's DJ (Season 1, Episode 1). Her wedding was at Kirkland Chapel in New Brunswick (was at a wedding there this weekend!) and her reception was in Belmar. Her DJ was playing techno and even the older folks seemed to be dancing and enjoying it. Does anyone know who her DJ actually was (I can't find a vendor list for 4 Weddings) or have any suggestions for finding a DJ that can incorporate some techno in with the more traditional stuff?

We are using Sound Connection Entertainment...their office is in Belmar. Jason Jani is the owner and I have known him for several years. We are both very into house/club music, but also want the tradional songs, etc. Jason can provide all of this. Check out his website!

    Hi -

I'm in the same boat as you - my finance and I are all about Indy/alternative rock and don't want any of the traditional music. We are using John Sinclair from Aria Melody and you should check out his playlists....I couldn't believe that he had all the music that I have on my iPod! Our cocktail hour/ceremony/ eating music will all be of the music we like.

I don't think he's known for Techno, but you can tell he has a great mix of music for the "dancing" part. My finance and I are torn between giving him a list of songs or just letting him pick what he wants.

Thank you so much ladies! I'm really happy to have some reasonable DJ options now. I didn't even know where to start looking before and I didn't trust that most DJs would even know what I wanted. I'm planning my wedding from OOT and I hadn't given too much thought to the DJ until my FMIL introduced me to the one that emcees her bowling league. Free inflatable give-aways, all the latest top 40 songs, and 5 hours for the price of 4 (still 1K)! Yowza!
