I looove indie rock (but most of it unfortunately isn't danceable) and I really don't enjoy about 3/4 of the music that is customarily played at weddings, and I'm not even mentioning the chicken dance, macarena, etc. - FMIL loves this stuff, I hate it.
Techno music that isn't too terribly loud seems like it might be a good danceable compromise. Obviously we have a lot of songs that we do want to hear, but then there's all the filler music.
I got the idea from Nic's 4 Wedding's DJ (Season 1, Episode 1). Her wedding was at Kirkland Chapel in New Brunswick (was at a wedding there this weekend!) and her reception was in Belmar. Her DJ was playing techno and even the older folks seemed to be dancing and enjoying it. Does anyone know who her DJ actually was (I can't find a vendor list for 4 Weddings) or have any suggestions for finding a DJ that can incorporate some techno in with the more traditional stuff?
