Im curious what your florist budgets are- I need a hoopah (sp?) about 15 centerpieces and 6 bouqets, 5 boutenieeres etc. Is $2000 too cheap? Im CLUELESS about pricing flowers!!!

Re: FLorist budget

  • If you want a fully floral hoopah your budget may be a little light.  Ours was $2500 3.5 years ago; we got church flowers, 3 bouquets, 6 boutineers & 20 centerpeices.  Other than specifying a dominant color & telling her which kinds of flowers are my favorites, I didn't micromanage the flower selection which left the florist free to buy low cost flowers in season, which helped.
  • We are a little under $2,000 but no chuppah.  Try S&K Floral Expressions.
  • My flower budget is also around $2,000 with similar items (minus the chuppah). We have 6 BM bouquets, my bridal bouquet, 9 bouts, 2 wrist corsages for the moms, 14 low centerpieces, an arrangement for the card table, an arch with tulle and different branches/flowers and 2 wisteria plants for the ceremony and the runner with flower petals.

I am very flexible about the flowers and didn't have my heart set on something expensive like orchids or peonies.  LIke PP mentioned, if you let the florist use some in season flowers, you will definitely save. Search and see what flowers are in season during your wedding month to get an idea.  Also, my mom and I were able to find candles for the tables for a really reasonable price online, so we saved money by ordering the candles on our own instead of through the florist.

Another piece of advice: don't actually say what your budget is unless you really have to. See what the price comes out to at the end. If you say you are willing to pay $2000, the florist may add more to come up to the price instead of keeping it lower.  Also, you can definitely play around with the cost of the centerpieces and bouquets based on size. HTH!

  • My flowers come out to be 6000 with 30 centerpiece . high and low centerpieces alternating on the tables. 10 bouquets , my bouquet, 16 boutin., church arrangemnts and candles on table and pew bows. I am contemplating on buying my own candles as well to make the price go down a little.
  • I went to AW and got my bouquet, 3 bridesmaids bouquets, 5 boutins, 10 centerpieces, 2 cousages, and 2 alter pieces for $ 1,000

  • I'm just under 2k for 16 low centerpieces, my bouquet, 7 bridesmaids, 9 bouts,4 corsages, church pew bows and 2 church arrangements. I wasnt super picky about flowers and was honest w the florist - I told her I wanted to cut the cost wherever possible whole still having something I was happy with. She gave me tips on where I can cut cost and where it's worth spending.
  • I'm at 1300-1500 for 20 centerpieces (1/2 high 1/2 low), my bouquet, toss bouquet, 6 bridesmaids, 15 bouts, 5 wristlets, a mini bouquet and a basket for my flower girls, cake flowers, and petals on the tables.

  • futuremrsdavies  who did u use?

i got a recent quote for 2500 and i want to bring it down as much as i can...i was told if i get my own vases this will help and also if i do low centerpieces... i have been to 3 florist and im still looking around...
  • Our buget is $2500 (about 10% of our total budget) - probably about 12 centerpieces (low but pretty wide), 5 bouquets, an arch with draped greens/flowers, 2 mothers' roses, a bunch of candles.  Garden roses, regular roses, and a little bit of lily of the valley.

Originally, when we started looking for florists we didn't say what our budget was.  I think that's fine if you know exactly what you want and are simply doing price comparisons.  But we didn't know what we wanted and needed someone to be a little creative - as we went forward it was easier just to be upfront about what the budget is and let the florist work with it.  We got some good ideas doing it that way...
