We are struggling with both the groomsman and bridesmaid gifts.  I am out of steam from thinking of everything else, haha!!

My Fiance wants to do the personalized cooler chairs so I guess we are doing that for the groomsmen but for the bridesmaids I am totally stumped

We got four of them Tiffany cufflinks, and the other a tie (because he has a ton of cufflinks already).

I think my FI is going to get them all yankee cuff links from cufflinks.com

Here are some ideas we've branstormed to help out:

    Oakley sunglasses = $90
    Personalized BBQ set - $40-$50
Omaha Steaks certificate = appx. $50
    Personalized Zippos ?

What are your thoughts on these?
  • edited December 2011
Not all of them obviously... haha!

<div>Not sure I love those ideas.  Sunglasses are really personal -- it is really hard to figure out what will fit someone else's face shape.  For the bbq set, do you know that all of your groomsmen grill and don't already have sufficient tools?  I'm pretty sure that 3 of 5 of our groomsmen didn't have grills, and one of the other two has more grill tools than he could ever use.  Again with the Omaha Steaks, most of our groomsmen don't have grills.  And personalized Zippos are mostly useful for people who smoke -- do they all smoke?  And do they not already have nice lighters?  Those are a pretty common groomsman gift (and not something that people need many of). </div>

Ok good I appreciate the critiques! I think it's really hard to find something they all "NEED"

An example of this even is  - I got my FI nice cuff links a year ago since he had none!  Hasn't used um once since...Not once!

What about a watch? FI was going to do this, but then learned that 2 of the 4 guys got super nice watches from their wives for x-mas. But I thought it was a great idea while it lasted. Now we don't know what we're going to do. I suggested tickets to a sporting event that they could all go to after the wedding together, but they don't all cheer for the same teams (but would still be fun, I thought). Of the things you mentioned, the bbq set would be something neat and useful (at least among all of our friends), but you would have to consider if the guys in your group would use it or aren't already equipped (we registered for a set for our wedding and the BM got one for his wedding last year). Instead of Omaha Steaks GC, what about a GC to a really nice steak house in the area that they could go out and enjoy?

I think FI is deciding between a cigar holder/ lighter set or "Das Boot" which is that European beer mug shaped like a boot. All of his groomsmen will appreciate either one, however I personally like the boot better.

I agree w/ the points uppereast made about the sunglasses and lighter... I know FI was SUPER picky about choosing his Maui Jim sunglasses a few years ago, and unless all of the guys smoke, the lighter might not be a great idea either.

I would personally LOVE the Omaha steaks, and I think I might suggest that to FI as another option :)

<div>Does he have french cuff shirts?  If he doesn't, he probably won't use cuff links much.  What is he wearing at the wedding?  (We figured at the very least that our groomsmen who aren't in business attire jobs would use the cuff links at the wedding, and maybe at future weddings.)</div><div>
</div><div>It is really hard to figure these things out.  It is tough because there are a lot of gifts out there that are nice in theory, but that boys get over and over again (I would say that one can have too many personalized flasks) or that they would already have and wouldn't need more than one of.  What about restaurant gift cards?  A nice bottle of wine or liquor?  Sports tickets are nice, but can be tough if you don't know their schedules.  Personalized highball or old fashioned glasses?  Gift card to the Art of Shaving or somewhere like that?  </div>

Right now fi is thinking of getting engraved sterling silver USB flash drives for the boys.

Still need good inspiration for the girls.

i'm leaving it up to FI, but he wants to do a personalized flask and probably something else. He is all excited to pick them out, go figure.

we got the guys monogrammed leather moneyclip wallets....

we were thinking of getting them personalized soccer jerseys, but, mh couldn't decide what he wanted to do, and we ran out of time to do that
i also had found personalized mini soccer balls
    (they're all into soccer)
we also had to be careful b/c one of the gms was his cousin from uruguay, so we had to make sure it was something he could pack and take home....

Where did you get these? Can someone post the link please?

We're giving our entire WP digital picture frames.  We figure that even if people already have one, it can't hurt to have another one for an office/different room.   Plus since we both have co-ed sides we needed something that would work for guys and girls. It's not the most personal gift, but we have 15 people in our wedding party so finding an individualized gift for each would have been a nightmare.

We liked the engraved leathermen idea - but most of his men are from OOT - How would airport security feel about this??

For the wedding my FI has been in, the groom bought them Jersey's of their favorite team.  Ex. each guy got a baseball jersey in their favorite team, for another wedding they did hockey jersey of their favorite team.  Jersey's could be expensive but just thought it was another idea

MandWNJ- yes, they are the most useful, who nowadays carries a flask- imagine getting pulled over with that in today's world?  But everyone has to do what is best for them.  Now to find the bridesmaids jewelry....

my FI was in a wedding and the groom gave them all charicatures of him and the groomsmen. he did a little 'godfather' type pic with them all in suits, him sitting in the middle and the GM standing around them. the pics were great and he framed them each

for my girls i'm giving them a navy clutch, a necklace, and flip flops for the reception
we have no clue for the guys - i thought about taking them to a baseball game or giving them the flip camera but one of his GM already has it so maybe we would get him something different

My fiance works with a friend who is a baseball bat maker (he's also in the wedding.)  He wants to give each guy a personalized bat with a picture of all the guys scanned onto it. Do you think that's silly?? Should he get them something else too? Our wedding is far off, but I'm just trying to get ideas now.
