Appetizer or First Course?

Hi- working on prelim menus and I am doing the combo appetizer and salad and then main entree... do I call it appetizer or first course?  I feel like first course sounds silly when there are only 2 courses but I like the sound of that better than appetizer.  But I guess it is an appetizer?  THanks!!!!!!

What's the appetizer? I mean, what food are you serving with the salad? What are you calling the main dish?

The examples of the combo appetizers are like salmon tartare with arugula salad, or crab cake with some other type of salad, etc. So its like an actual appetizer plus a salad just combined into 1.   Then the entree is a choice of 3- meat, fish, chicken.

Personally, I would just call it Appetizer and then Main Course, if you're only having 2 courses. Calling it First and Second makes it sound like there's going to be 7 courses or something.

i Would use appetizer.  my venue actually calls it a "Salatizer" because they also combine the salad and appetizer together lol

We had the same thing.. crab cake and salad combined. I called it an Appetizer on the menu.
