Shower gifts sent to the house?!?!?!

Hi ladies!

Tonight FI and I received a big box from BBB, we figured it was probably a wedding present. After we opened the gifts, I realized that it's probably a shower gift as I know the invitations went out recently. My questions is what is the protocol for this? Should I wrap them back up and open them for the shower (even though FI and I arleady opened them), do I send a thank you now or after the shower?

TIA!!!!

Send a thank you card now.

As for whether you should bring it to the shower, I don't think that's necessary. I'd assume it's from someone who can't make it, which is why they sent it to your house. And if she DOES show up (maybe she just didn't want to carry it along, especially if she lives far), you can always announce, "And Aunt Sue sent me one of my place settings in the mail. Thanks Aunt Sue!" I'd be unreasonable of her to expect you to bring it to the shower just to take it back home again.

I just opened them up at home and sent a Thank You card right away.    Honestly, like MB said, they most likely are not coming to the shower, so they won't know if it is there.   And, you will have so much other stuff to bring home from the shower, it is one less thing to worry about at the end of the day.  And you Mom will probably have stuff to worry about bringing to the shower so it is one less thing for her to worry about.

Thanks girls! This is just the first gift that came all the way from Texas! So, I'm sure they aren't coming to the shower, I just wanted 100% sure what I was suppose to do.
