Laffler Photography - MIA!

Hi all!

I have been trying to get ahold of Todd Laffler from Laffler photography located in northern New Jersey.  I'm hoping he is available to shoot our wedding but I'm having trouble touching base with him.  I sent an email through his website, called the contact number (nobody answered, voice mailbox is full) and sent a regular email through my personal email, and still no response!!  We love his work and are hoping to hear from him.

Has anyone had any luck getting in touch with him recently???

Thanks!
Leigh

I don't know about Todd, but every so often, a post like this is made about just about every photographer.  Either they're away on vacation or (as is probably the case), they're in a real busy season.  If your wedding is far enough off, I'd just be patient and try him again later in the month.  If your wedding is too close, maybe you want to hedge your bets and start reaching out to second choices.

When you own a business, you are NEVER on vacation.  If you are going to be unavailable for a few days, it is SOOO easy in today's age to put a note out there on facebook or your blog (or your voice mail message) to give clients a heads up   I don't agree that one should have to be patient to get a hold of someone after calling and emailing twice.  And the fact that the voice mailbox is full is disturbing too.  I would move on, I know I would want better service from a vendor if I was handing them a few K.

Just from a prior experience with my terrible photographer, I would move on.  If you have a bad feeling about it now, go with your gut. I didnt and it almost cost me my wedding photos. I didnt use him, I used someone else btw.

Thanks so much for your feedback everyone.  I too was disturbed at the level of effort I had to put in just to try and reach him (especially since the other photographers I reached out to contacted me back within a few hours).  I'm disappointed because his work looks so beautiful and I would love for it to work out, but I don't want to set myself up for a disaster if this is how he handles his prospective clients.

Anyone have any suggestions for other photographers in the area with a bit of an artistic flare to their work??

Same thing happened to me with him when I tried to contact him about my wedding a few months ago.  I never got an initial response.  I think he does fabulous work but the fact that he didn't even acknowledge my inquiry really put a bad taste in my mouth so I moved on!

I ended up going with McKay Imaging who has been amazing so far.  I also originally wanted to go with Vanessa Joy but she was booked for my date.

    Good luck!

It depends on your definition of artistic flare.

I really admire Laffler's work and it is creative, but it was a little too contemporary for our tastes.  We're working with Robert Wayne Photography.  Still beautiful, creative, journalistic work, but with a more traditional style.

And he's about half the price of Laffler.

<div>Those two don't even compare.  It's obvious why Todd Laffler is twice the cost.</div>

Thanks everyone!  I'm bummed because this is now the second photographer that I had my heart set on that doesn't seem to be working out.  The first (Jordan Brian Photography-who i've been following for years, waiting until the day we got engaged to scoop him up) is already booked for our date. :(   So after much research I finally found Laffler and was so impressed by his work and I'm having a hard time giving him up after not hearing from him!  I saw several good reviews on weddingwire from brides who had used him.

I'm gonna do more research though and see if we can find someone else and if we don't hear from Laffler in the meantime I'll have to call it quits on using him.

Thanks for everyone's suggestions so far for other photographers with a similar style.  Keep 'em coming!!!!!!!!

How about Elisabeth Millay?  I believe she worked as a second shooter for Todd Laffler.  She's our photographer and we really like her.  www.elisabethmillay.com

I would recommend Josh Lynn, or even better Neil Van Neikerk of One Perfect Moment

That is great.. I really love his website and a friend of mine used Todd for his wedding. I would love to meet with him to see if he is available for my wedding next year. Please let me know how your meeting goes. Also, how is the best way to get in touch with him since he is so busy?
