Wedding Vows & Ceremony Discussions

off the beaten path places

My fiance and I are not the typical couple starting from the way we met and began a relationship. I just watched The Office, trying to catch up, and saw how Jim and Pam actually married - before the ceremony on a tour boat at Niagara Falls. I love it!! It totally fits our story and our desire.  I moved back to Michigan while he dealt with a court case in Colorado and we are planning on eloping as soon as I can get back because we just want to be married already, then maybe have a bigger ceremony later. But not every quick marriage has to be done at the court house. Wondering if anyone has any ideas along the Jim and Pam lines? Thanks!

  • I don't watch the Office, so I can't comment on that, but DH and I went off, just the two of us, to Key West to get married.  It was incredibly romantic, and we were able to do and say things that we would not have in front of a large (or small) crowd.  It was sort of a "planned" elopement, because our families and friends knew about it, but we wanted it to be a private time for just the two of us.

  • I also wanted a unique venue.  When I was looking here in Chicago, we considered the top of the Navy Pier Ferris Wheel, a shoreline tour, the top of the Sears Tower, in a skybox at Wrigley Field, the Presidential suite at The Drake hotel downtown, and Brookfield Zoo.  In the end, we decided to go the DW route and will be getting married in a gazebo in downtown Savannah, Ga.
