Question about panel invitations

I'm starting to make a budget for the materials we'll need for our invitations.  We're just doing panel invitations with a direction card, RSVP card, and RSVP envelope (hotel information is on our website which they can look at when they get our STDs).

So... should we wrap a ribbon around everything to hold it all together so it looks nice or is totally unnecessary and a waste of time/money?

That's exactly what we did. I can take a picture to show if you want. I designed mine in Photoshop, had them printed through Cards and Pockets and assembled the pieces myself. I also cut a half circle notch at the bottom of the panel card to hold all the contents that I slipped in between the belly band and the back of the panel card. I think it came out great- but then again I am biased, lol. I'll try to post pics so it makes more sense.

Yes, please!  I'd love to see pictures... my visualization skills are totally non-existent.

I would love to help but my craft and immagination skills are lacking - we are doing a simple fold and send invite, all one card with a preforated post card response.

We did panel card invites and didn't use anything to hold the RSVP card or direction cards to the invite, just stuffed them all in the envelope.  We ordered the paper from cards & pockets and then printed it all at home ourselves.
