Thoughts on venue?

I'm torn between having my wedding at the grand colonial vs. basking ridge country club.  I've never been to a wedding at eitherm but the grand colonial seems to have a better outdoor ceremony option; does anyone have any comments about either venue?

Post this on your local board...sorry, most of us will have no idea where those are

I've never been to either of them (or to New Jersey...as Hannah mentioned, this is an international board), but I googled them.

Just going by my personal taste, I'd go with the Grand Colonial.  It seems much lovelier in photos than the country club.

I visited the BRCC... we weren't impressed with the package for the amount of money.  the layout of the room is weird and the walk from the ceremony space to the hall was a bit to far and no elevator.

We haven't been to the grand colonial but their packages looked like they nickel and dime everything.  I've heard some good things about it though.

We went to Basking Ridge's Wedding Open Houses, we were so turned off with the room itself, it is shaped like an L, so half your guests cant even see the dance floor!!  The food was not appealing either.  Id say find out when their next one is and go for yourself.  In that area is Old Mill Inn, Twin Brooks CC, Primavera, Berkeley Plaza, Somerset Hills Hotel, there are other options...

My work has the holiday party at the BRCC.  If it's the same room everyone is talking about, then yes, it's a very annoying layout.  Their lobster ravioloi is really good though!  ;)
