updo question

I went for my trial updo yesterday. I have a quick question. The updo came out fine. The back of my head was gorgeous. We've decided to tuck some fresh flowers into the updo. Looking at me from the side -- also very beautiful. However - looking at me straight on -- it looked like I had just stuck my hair up in a bun myself. It looked so plain?? Is this normal?? My mom and I looked at tons of photos post updo -- and it seems most updos are pretty plain in the front.? Should I try to jazz it up somewhat with some bling -- some sort of crystal clip or tiara? It does look better with my veil -- however I thought I would not wear my veil all night but now I am unsure. Any thoughts?? Thanks

My 1st up-do was plain like that, I requested more body and framing around my face, so next time she gave me that, and it was much better and prettier.

I haven't had my trial yet, but I plan on asking for volume in the front, like pp said.  I had my make-up trial already, and I had my hair kind of tightly pulled back and I felt like I looked so weird and severe, but when I threw my hair back up with more fullness in the front, it looked ten times better.

this happened with my trial as well - i'm now rethinking wearing my hair down or asking for more volume in the front as PP said

As for more volume. The girl doing my hair explained to me that even though volume may seem high in person, in photos it isnt that high or puffy.

I asked for more of a bump on top after my trial. Not like, jersey shore bump, but like big volume all around. This way it didn't look stuck to my head. Also, do you have bangs? Bc i used those in the front, or you could pull a few peices out in the front to make it more interesting.

Its kind of hard to make it look "not plain" from the front. You can try parting it different ways, adding volume on the top, leaving some whisps of hair on the sides...

or maybe half up half down is a nice combo if you're not sure whether to wear it up or down.
