	Head south on S East St toward E Hargett St		289 ft
2.	Take the 1st right onto E Hargett St		0.2 mi
3.	Turn left at the 3rd cross street onto S Blount St		1.0 mi
4.	Continue onto Hammond Rd		0.4 mi
5.	Merge onto I-40 W/US-64 W via the ramp to I-440		1.7 mi
6.	Take exit 297 for Lake Wheeler Rd		0.2 mi
7.	Keep right at the fork, follow signs for Raleigh		108 ft
8.	Turn right at Lake Wheeler Rd/State Rd 1375		0.2 mi
9.	Take the 1st left onto Centennial Pkwy		0.6 mi
10.	Turn left toward Main Campus Dr		0.3 mi
11.	Turn left at Main Campus Dr		0.3 mi
12.	Turn right		0.3 mi

I think that would be the best bet - you can't totally avoid south Raleigh (without having everyone go majorly out of the way) but this would have people driving through it the least - for like, two blocks, and during the day it is not going to look that bad anyways!  HTH!
