Reception Halls

Can you anyone reccomend any great reception halls in North NJ? Also - anywhere you absolutely hated (as a guest or as a bride)?

I got married at The Atrium (W. Orange) and was really happy.  The food was amazing, imo.

I was in a wedding that was at Il Tulipiano, that was really nice as well. They have a pretty terrace out back for an outdoor ceremony, etc.

If you tell the ladies what you are looking for in terms of location, decor, and price (per person and let us know if it includes tax and gratuities), and if you are having the ceremony on site and how many guests you expect its MUCH easier for us to give recommendations.

What Laurms said!  There are a ton of options out there, and it will probably quickly overwhelm you if we all start shouting out our favorite places if they aren't what you're looking for.  It won't be helpful to get recommendations for reception halls by the shore that are $300 per person when you're looking for a country club in Bergen County for $100 per person.

The only one I've had a bad experience at was the Grand Marquis in Old Bridge (back in 2007). Otherwise, what PP's suggested is best.

Thanks for the suggestions! I'm looking for something under $100 per plate. I want the ceremony and reception to be at the same location. It will take place March 2012 (I have lots of time but would like to get a core group of places to visit).

I'm getting married at Mayfair Farms in West Orange. Their Saturday evening price may be over what you are looking for, but Sunday afternoon or Friday evening should be in your price range.

The Tides Estate in North Haledon.  They give a great rate for off season, even on a Saturday, and they have beautiful grounds.

The Manor in West Orange! It's definitely in your price range.

Im getting married at the Hamilton Park Hotel in Florham Park- there are different packages, but the basic one is $99pp (before tax) also, only 1 event at a time

My sister got married a few years back at Perona Farms and its in that price range as well

I also agree- check out the Tides- awesome for what they provide vs price

I had my wedding at RCC...loved everything about it.

I really really disliked the Tides as guest.

I always enjoy events at the Macaluso's, Venetian, Seasons, and Manor (a reasonable option) of the top of my head.

    Good Luck!!

Venetian, Seasons and Rockleigh are not even going to come close to being under $100 pp, even in the off season!

I second the Tides, they did a wonderful job for our wedding.  Other places to look at would be Empire Club, Bridgewater Manor, The Manor, Richfield Regency..all would be around that price in the off season.

I didn't even realize a price point was mentioned.

In that price range the Manor is really nice. Good food and GORGEOUS grounds.

I am trying to find a place around the same price as you are looking for. And I am also trying to find a place to have the reception and ceremony at the same location.
I visited 4 places until now.
"The Empire Club" was the first one. You should not even visit. I didn't like the site for the ceremony outside or the rooms for the reception inside.  That are other places that charge less per person and are much more beautiful.
"The Royal Manor" was the second one.  I fell in love with it.  The place looks all new.  They are flexible with size of wedding.  The cocktail and diner are it is just like I wanted for my wedding.  Their price is under 100 for Fridays and Sunday.  The down side is the ceremony area.  It can be inside.  But I want it outside.  Outside they have a gazebo in their parking lot or you could do it in a gazebo in the county park in front of the facility.  To me everything was perfect, but my fiance said he would feel too exposed getting married in a park.  I think you should go there and take a look.
"Zeris Inn" was the third place we went.  We went there because we wanted to see what they could offer for their low price, 72 pp Saturday night wedding.  The outside area is beautiful, but I didn't like so much the inside.  The owner of the place, who showed us the place, seems to be an excellent wedding planner. If just the inside was nicer...since you have lots of time why don't you go there to take a look.
"Perona Farms" was the fourth place.  I went yesterday.  I love the place.  But it is a little far from where I live. And because of the traffic of that area we got there late in our two appointments.  Not a good place for a Friday wedding.  It is just a little more money than the other places, but it is still under 100 per person.  I think it has it's special charm.  It is one of the places we are still thinking about.
"The Manor" was one of the places we picked to visit.  But at the day of the appointment I could not go.  My fiance went there by himself.  He said it is as beautiful as the website pictures.  We are going back there together.  Friday and Sunday wedding are under 100 pp and they have rooms that will take 50 people minimum.  My fiance said the place is perfect and the only thing that I might not like it is the style.  Royal Manor is kind of modern.  The Manor is more of a classic place.
That's what I know.  I hope it will help you.
    Smile
