I have two staples nearby. The one has free self-service. The other does not have a self-service paper cutter; you need to pay the copy center employee to cut the paper for you.

Do you happen to know if their self-service paper cutters are well-maintained? I have fairly thick cardstock and I don't want to get jagged edges because the blades are dull.

My guess is that's an individual store thing. Depending on how concerned the employees are (or how much the customers complain). I could be wrong though. It wouldn't hurt to just drive over and check it out. Maybe if they don't look too well-maintained, you could say something and hope they improve in the near future.

i took mine to Kinkos/Fed Ex store. They laser cut them for PENNIES. I just had to tell him the size I wanted it cut down to. I brought my inserts to them for one cut and they didn't even charge me
