Tipping Question-Engagement Pictures

Our engagement shot is coming up. Do we tip our photographer and if so, how much?

We tried but our photographer didn't take it.

I didn't plan on it since we are tipping her the night of the wedding for her services.

Ugh! I wish there wasn't so much tipping. Another worry!

I totally agree! lol It's added a whole other step to our budget lol Whatever happened to the fact that you have already paid through the nose for their services. To me, tipping was as a thank you for exceptional service. Now it's the norm and you're shunned like some sort of money leper if you even question it lol

We didn't tip for our e-pics. From what I've read, it seems like most tip those who work for a company that provides the service. (i.e. valet attendants, servers, photographers that work for a company). If you receive your service from the company owner, then you don't have to tip since they're the one receiving your whole payment. That's just what I've read on these boards.

Since our photog is the owner of his company, we didn't tip him for the e-pics, but I will tip him and his assistant for our actual wedding.

We didn't tip our photog for e-pics or at the wedding since he works for himself.  We wanted to tip is 2nd shooter at the wedding, but he left before we got a chance.  Then again, our photographer refused dinner at first saying he'd eat enough at the cocktail hour but we kind of yelled at him and told him he had to have a meal :o)

i'm so glad someone asked this question! I keep thinking about it and then forgetting to post! I was nervous bc I didn't tip for e-pics, but our photographers own and run the business together (and we are also paying PLENTY for our package), which is why i didn't. thanks all!
