Stupid question: Up-do vs. Blowout vs. Iron Set?

So of course I'm still researching salons and hair stylists like it's my job and I'm trying to figure out overall costs for my bridesmaids if they get their hair done with by the same person I wind up using.  Some places list bride vs. bridesmaid prices specifically, but others list up-do vs. blowout vs. iron set prices as a whole.

What's the difference between an up-do, a blowout, and an iron set?

I know at least one of my girls just wants her hair curled and pulled into a low side-swept pony tail - what would that be considered?

Sorry for the stupidity of this question, but ever since beginning wedding planning I've entered into a realm of vocabulary that I've never had to use before, haha.

I really think thats a question you should ask each stylist, as they may have their own opinions / definintions and base their price on that.

I would agree with Heather. I would check with the stylist to see what their definition of each. You don't want to assume anything and then be suprised at the end.

Well a blowout is just making it look nice , not doing anything but washing and blowing it out. No idea what iron set is. And I found a lot of places charged different for an up-do compared to having it half up/down and to having it all down with curls (usually up do is less) but again, each stylist is different.

I agree with PPer's. A blowout is just getting the hair washed and blown out. An iron set, I believe is curling the hair with the curling iron. But updo's can vary depending on the stylist and what each BM is looking for. IMO if a BM wants their hair curled and put into a low ponytail, it's an updo....but then again, that just my opinion. I would definitely ask each stylist, don't assume anything.
