S/O reception music WDYT

I really want to dance to my father with the song ill remember you by Madonna.  If you were to hear it at a wedding would you think its not appropriate? Like not father daughterly I mean. Lyrics below:

Say good-bye to not knowing when
The truth in my whole life began
Say good-bye to not knowing how to cry
You taught me that

[ Chorus (first time substitute
"strength" for "love" and
"saved" for "changed"): ]

And I'll remember the love that you gave me
Now that I'm standing on my own
I'll remember the way that you changed me
I'll remember

Inside I was a child
That could not mend a broken wing

Outside I looked for a way
To teach my heart to sing

[ chorus ]

I learned to let go of the
illusion that we can possess
I learned to let go, I travel in stillness
And I'll remember happiness
I'll remember (I'll remember)
Mmmmm... (I'll remember)
Mmmmm...

[ chorus ]
(I'll remember)

No I've never been afraid to cry
Now I finally have a reason why
I'll remember (I'll remember)

I think that's fine.  There are so few songs that actually fit that type of relationship  (particularly in a happy way) that most that people pick aren't exact fits or are sentimental for reasons other than the lyrics.

My husband and his mom picked The Summer Wind.  I think that one was even weirder because it is so clearly talking about summer romance and loss, but she likes Sinatra.

I'm dancing to "Hungry Eyes" or "She's Like The Wind" from Dirty Dancing with my dad.

It's more about what the song means to you than what it means to other people. My dad and I used to watch Dirty Dancing together and warble/bellow along to the songs in the car. :D

I say use whatever you want, whatever has meaning for you!

My dad & I are using 'You'll Be In My Heart' by Phil Collins which is definitely not a commonly used one.... but it is his song for me. So thats what we are using.

I think that song is fine!  We went through a whole list of songs.  I think we have finally decided on "My Little Girl" by Tim McGraw.

I actually think that it is a very good song choice.  And very unique.
